Polson Bay
The south end of the lake, Polson Bay, which is almost completely closed off from the rest of the lake generally has light and variable winds, unless a front is coming in from the west, in which case the breeze will actually come from the south, southwest and can be quite strong. It will generally veer to the west as the front passes. During a strong blow, the surface on Polson Bay can become quite choppy as the water depth is less than 20 feet over the entire bay.
As you travel around Flathead Lake looking for Polson Bay real estate, consider the north end of Flathead Lake where the sailing winds are more consistent.
